A Look At The Future Of The Divas Title Scene

Despite Nikki Bella‘s Divas Title victory Monday night on Raw, PWInsider reports that she and twin sister Brie are still preparing to leave WWE when their contracts expire on April 30th.

As previously reported a few weeks ago, the twins’ contracts are set to expire at the end of the month and they had been advertised as former Divas for an autograph signing next month. The advertising was quickly pulled when it was revealed as a fraud.

According to the PWInsider report, there had been plans to put the Divas Title on Nikki for some time, possibly at Extreme Rules this Sunday (due to take place only one day before their contracts expire).
Creative plans reportedly call for Kharma to return to WWE, sparked by her altercation with the Bellas last year when she announced her pregnancy, and win the Divas Title from Nikki.

If the Bellas are indeed still packing to leave, the angle could conceivably take place this Sunday at Extreme Rules or on next week’s episode of Raw which would be their final night under contract. But on a happier note, this was Nikki’s first reign with the title. Her twin sister, Brie, had a previous reign with the belt, making them the only sisters to accomplish this feat in a major wrestling promotion.

So.....below are five possible contenders for the title that I see:

1. Eve Torres: As of late, Eve has been the biggest heel Diva on WWE television. She is now serving as the executive administrator to John Laurinaitis, which means that she could possess some booking powers. So what would stop Eve from booking herself as the No. 1 contender for the Divas Championship? Eve has already called out the Bellas for cheating and the other Divas for doing "absolutely nothing," which is mostly true. So she has taken it upon herself to "improve" the quality of the matches. Since those "Hoeski" chants don't seem to be dying down anytime soon, Eve would gain even more heat by abusing her powers and snatching the title for herself. It has worked in the past for Stephanie McMahon, so it could definitely work again for Eve. Now if only she could hit a proper moonsault...
2. AJ: Shining Wizard. Octopus Stretch. Wheelbarrow Bulldog. Sliced Bread No. 2. These are the signature moves of AJ. Yep, she has one of the flashiest move sets in the Divas Division, but you might not have known that because she's only been used lately as the battered valet of Daniel Bryan, and because Michael Cole is the worst play-by-play announcer in recent memory. But I digress. The self-proclaimed "Geek Goddess" has all of the ingredients needed to be a strong role model for the female viewers. In terms of wrestling, she has enough of the goods to keep the diehard fans happy, assuming she is allowed to showcase her true potential. So why not giving AJ the belt?
3. Naomi: Before she became a dancer for Brodus Clay, Naomi was the runner-up on NXT Season 3. She is a natural in the ring and has already surpassed many of the other Divas who came from non-wrestling backgrounds (Eve Torres, Layla El, Kelly Kelly, etc.). Check out her work in FCW for further proof. It is safe to say that her dancing routine with Cameron Lynn is the biggest reason why the Funkasaurus is so popular right now. So this would be the opportune time to properly establish herself on TV. There is no doubt in my mind that she would make short work of Nikki Bella while doing so.
4. Natalya: Natalya is arguably the best technical wrestler in the Divas Division. In addition, she is still the only third-generation Superstar in the division, being the daughter of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and the granddaughter of Stu Hart, facts that WWE should capitalize on. And she patiently endured through that ridiculous "farting" gimmick. Does she deserve another run with the belt? Absolutely.
5. Aksana: HA! I fooled all of you! No chance in heck..

Now, the REAL 5th and final choice, who I believe is most likely:

KHARMA

This choice makes the most sense from the rest. Remember when the Bellas mocked Kharma during her pregnancy? Kharma vowed to get revenge once she returned, but only if the Bellas were still in the WWE. Well, if the rumors are true, Kharma only has about six days to get her payback. I'm pretty sure that if Kharma squashed Nikki badly enough, her twin sister Brie would feel it, just like Tomax and Xamot from G.I. Joe. Instead of a "thank you card," they can give Nikki and Brie the "John Morrison Special" and let Kharma destroy the twins on their way out. But more important than that, the Diva formerly known as Awesome Kong has a huge following from TNA, where she had spectacular matches with the likes of Taylor Wilde, ODB and Gail Kim. Putting the belt on Kharma would open the door for even better matches with stronger Divas, so my money is on this one.

Allysin Kay Wins AIW Women's Title From Mia Yim

Mia Yim vs Allysin Kay for the AIW Women’s Title.

Weapons include ironing board, toy machine gun, hose, broom, bat, golf clubs,
etc. Match is unsanctioned.
Mia brings out her own black and pink light tubes. Stare down to start. Allysin with a headbutt and a slap. Mia slaps back, Mia with some knees to the face, Allysin with a german suplex. Allysin slams Mia’s head into the turnbuckle and stomps away at Mia. Mia with an idian
death lock. Mia choking Allysin with shirt. Allysin takes control with a series of kicks to Mia’s mid section. Allysin picks up the toy gun and turns on the red scope. Throws it down after she realizes its not real. Mia picks up a bat and smashed the gun to bits. Allysin with a broom and smacks Mia in the butt with it. Mia ducks a dive and
Allysin goes to the floor. Mia with a running kick to Allysin from the apron. They are both targeting each other noses. Allysin grabs a chair and nails Mia on the outside with it. Allysin rams Mia’s face
into the ring post. Allysin chasing Mia around the ring. Mia comes
back with some kicks against the guard rail. Allysin throws Mia into a
row of chairs. Mia grabs a light tube and Allysin grabs a MACHETE.
They both go to the ramp and Allysin’s machete gets stuck in the ramp.
Mia nails Allysin with a light tube. Mia gets Allysin back into the
ring and Mia misses the Sky Yim. Sassy Stephanie is out and distracts
Mia. Allysin grab Mia and gets the 3 count. Allysin is mad because
she wanted to “do this on my own”. Allysin DEMANDS the match be
restarted. Allysin nails Chest Flexxor and one of his henchman. Mr
Wadsworth is out and says Mia/Allysin 3 will be held at Absolution. No
outside interference.

This past Saturday night, 4/14 in Dunellen, NJ, WSU teamed up with big brother promotion NWS for the 7th Annual King & Queen of the Ring Tournament. While previous winners such as Julio Dinero & Cherri, Danny Demanto & Melissa Stripes, Rhett Titus & Nikki Roxx, Jay Lethal & Miss April, Devon Moore & Alicia and Julio Dinero & Mercedes Martinez all enjoyed their tournament victories, perhaps no one took their win as a career changing moment and as the beginning of a regal era, as 2012′s tournament winner, Jennifer Cruz. In fact, immediately after the event, Jennifer Cruz told WSUWrestling.com that when being talked about she must be addressed as either Queen Cruz, Her Majesty or Her Royal Highness!
Jennifer Cruz, who stated at the beginning of the year that she was going to make 2012 her year has lived up to those words, as Cruz is currently undefeated in 2012. Of course, some of these victories were picked up through nefarious activities, but as Jennifer, errr excuse us, as Queen Cruz says, “A win’s a win.”
However, Her Majesty wanted to make an immediate example of all her peers who she now considers as peasants. Immediately following the finals, Queen Cruz had her partner, Mike Dennis hold down Jana and made Jana kiss her feet! Jana, the WSU Hall of Famer and former Spirit & Tag Champion, was furious about the disrespect. Cruz made it clear afterwards that everyone in WSU is beneath her and only she is pure royalty.
Her Royal Higness has demanded time at the J-Cup on 4/28 for her Official Coronation and where Queen Cruz will make her first proclamation. We are now living in the Queen Cruz era in WSU, and who will attempt to take her off her high throne?

Outside of the King & Queen tournament, WSU presented two championship matches last night. WSU World & Spirit Champion Jessicka Havok defended the WSU Spirit Championship against Marti Belle. This was the biggest match in Marti Belle’s career, and Marti brought it to the champion. However, the champ was just too dominating with her eyes set on defending her World Title against former champion of three years, Mercedes Martinez on 4/28. Marti put up a hell of a fight in this match and Jessicka would get visibly frustrated. Havok finally had enough and GORILLA PRESSED Marti from the ring STRAIGHT INTO THE FRONT ROW!
Marti Belle’s ex-tag team partner, Tina San Antonio was out scouting this match, but wisely chose not to interfere in Militia in activity. When Marti was Gorilla Pressed in her direction, Tina was laughing. However, Tina stopped laughing when Marti found the will power and heart to get back into the ring before the ref’s count of 10. Marti showed she was a true warrior, but Havok is on a whole other level right now. Sapped of strength from willing herself back into the ring, Marti was easy prey as Havok won the match after a demon drop.
After the match, the Militia welcomed Tina to pick apart Marti. Tina relished at the opportunity, but Alicia & Brittney Savage ran out to chase The Midwest Militia away. Savage & Alicia reminded the MWM they were taking the WSU Tag Team Titles tonight.

In the other non-tournament match, The Mid-West Militia, Sassy Stephanie & Allisyn Kay, successfully retained their WSU Tag Team titles over former champions Alicia & Brittney Savage. This was another all-out war between these hated rivals. Savage & Alicia, uniting together by wearing New York Yankee gear, brought the violence to the new tag champions. These four have been going at it for months, verbally, physically, emotionally and mentally and every time these four get in the ring together, all hell breaks loose.
It looked like Alicia & Savage were finally going to regain the WSU Tag Team titles, as Alicia and Kay fought on the floor and Savage had Stephanie laid out in the ring. With the ref trying to restore order with the mayhem on the floor, the leader of the Militia, the World & Spirit Champion, Jessicka Havok came out. Havok tried interfering, but Savage caught Havok and laid her out with a diamond cutter. This is the second time (other time being IndyMania last year), that Savage has owned Havok with just a diamond cutter. It seems that the diamond cutter is the one move that can stop Havok.
While eliminating the outside threat, Sassy Stephanie was able to regain her composure. After the diamond cutter on Havok from Savage, Savage walked right into a Kiss My Sass, and Stephanie picked up another victory over Savage. It seems the Savage & Sassy Stephanie feud, a feud that started in the fall of 2010 has just gotten even hotter.

POST SHOW NEWS/NOTES:- Ezavel Suena & Jessie Brooks were both advertised to the show and did not appear. Both had transportation issues to the event and informed WSU late in the afternoon they could not appear. Both Brooks & Suena still remain in good standing with WSU.

- Dixie McGuire is a trainee through NWS’s program. Last night was her first match and she was asked to do the show once WSU realized they were two ladies short in the tournament. WSU has told McGuire they will give her a chance on a regular WSU show once she feels she is 100% ready.

- Nicollete The Monkey, a woman dressed in a monkey suit, will hopefully never return to WSU again, although several fans are already asking when they can see her again.

SHIMMER Women Athletes has announced that its next tapings will be taking place on October 27th and 28th.

The tapings will include the company’s milestone 50th DVD taping.

Melina and Mickie James To Renew Rivalry

Former WWE Divas and Women’s Champions Melina and Mickie James are set to reignite their feud in WWE when they face off on June 30th for Puerto Rico’s World Wrestling Council.

The former rivals battled intensely over the WWE Women’s Championship during their careers in WWE, and hold the record for being the second and third women, respectively, in company history to hold both the WWE Women’s and Divas Titles.

Their match will be part of WWC’s annual anniversary extravaganza, “Anniversario 2012″. The match takes place on June 30th at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Since being released by WWE in April 2010, Mickie has rocketed to the top of TNA, where she has held the Knockouts Championship on two occasions. Melina, released last August, has wrestled on various occasions including live on Internet pay per view for WSU.
