A Look At The Future Of The Divas Title Scene

Despite Nikki Bella‘s Divas Title victory Monday night on Raw, PWInsider reports that she and twin sister Brie are still preparing to leave WWE when their contracts expire on April 30th.

As previously reported a few weeks ago, the twins’ contracts are set to expire at the end of the month and they had been advertised as former Divas for an autograph signing next month. The advertising was quickly pulled when it was revealed as a fraud.

According to the PWInsider report, there had been plans to put the Divas Title on Nikki for some time, possibly at Extreme Rules this Sunday (due to take place only one day before their contracts expire).
Creative plans reportedly call for Kharma to return to WWE, sparked by her altercation with the Bellas last year when she announced her pregnancy, and win the Divas Title from Nikki.

If the Bellas are indeed still packing to leave, the angle could conceivably take place this Sunday at Extreme Rules or on next week’s episode of Raw which would be their final night under contract. But on a happier note, this was Nikki’s first reign with the title. Her twin sister, Brie, had a previous reign with the belt, making them the only sisters to accomplish this feat in a major wrestling promotion.

So.....below are five possible contenders for the title that I see:

1. Eve Torres: As of late, Eve has been the biggest heel Diva on WWE television. She is now serving as the executive administrator to John Laurinaitis, which means that she could possess some booking powers. So what would stop Eve from booking herself as the No. 1 contender for the Divas Championship? Eve has already called out the Bellas for cheating and the other Divas for doing "absolutely nothing," which is mostly true. So she has taken it upon herself to "improve" the quality of the matches. Since those "Hoeski" chants don't seem to be dying down anytime soon, Eve would gain even more heat by abusing her powers and snatching the title for herself. It has worked in the past for Stephanie McMahon, so it could definitely work again for Eve. Now if only she could hit a proper moonsault...
2. AJ: Shining Wizard. Octopus Stretch. Wheelbarrow Bulldog. Sliced Bread No. 2. These are the signature moves of AJ. Yep, she has one of the flashiest move sets in the Divas Division, but you might not have known that because she's only been used lately as the battered valet of Daniel Bryan, and because Michael Cole is the worst play-by-play announcer in recent memory. But I digress. The self-proclaimed "Geek Goddess" has all of the ingredients needed to be a strong role model for the female viewers. In terms of wrestling, she has enough of the goods to keep the diehard fans happy, assuming she is allowed to showcase her true potential. So why not giving AJ the belt?
3. Naomi: Before she became a dancer for Brodus Clay, Naomi was the runner-up on NXT Season 3. She is a natural in the ring and has already surpassed many of the other Divas who came from non-wrestling backgrounds (Eve Torres, Layla El, Kelly Kelly, etc.). Check out her work in FCW for further proof. It is safe to say that her dancing routine with Cameron Lynn is the biggest reason why the Funkasaurus is so popular right now. So this would be the opportune time to properly establish herself on TV. There is no doubt in my mind that she would make short work of Nikki Bella while doing so.
4. Natalya: Natalya is arguably the best technical wrestler in the Divas Division. In addition, she is still the only third-generation Superstar in the division, being the daughter of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and the granddaughter of Stu Hart, facts that WWE should capitalize on. And she patiently endured through that ridiculous "farting" gimmick. Does she deserve another run with the belt? Absolutely.
5. Aksana: HA! I fooled all of you! No chance in heck..

Now, the REAL 5th and final choice, who I believe is most likely:

KHARMA

This choice makes the most sense from the rest. Remember when the Bellas mocked Kharma during her pregnancy? Kharma vowed to get revenge once she returned, but only if the Bellas were still in the WWE. Well, if the rumors are true, Kharma only has about six days to get her payback. I'm pretty sure that if Kharma squashed Nikki badly enough, her twin sister Brie would feel it, just like Tomax and Xamot from G.I. Joe. Instead of a "thank you card," they can give Nikki and Brie the "John Morrison Special" and let Kharma destroy the twins on their way out. But more important than that, the Diva formerly known as Awesome Kong has a huge following from TNA, where she had spectacular matches with the likes of Taylor Wilde, ODB and Gail Kim. Putting the belt on Kharma would open the door for even better matches with stronger Divas, so my money is on this one.
