Evie Wins Second Women's Title In One Week

It has been seven amazing days for New Zealand’s Evie.

After becoming the first ever Impact Pro Wrestling Women’s Champion last Saturday by beating Britenay and Megan-Kate in a triple threat match, she has added another title to her cabinet by capturing the PWWA Interim Championship at today’s Call To Arms event in Casula, Australia, defeating Jessie McKay in the tournament final. The Auckland native made it to today’s main event by defeating her BFF Megan-Kate in the quarter-finals, then seeing off Kellie Skater in a rematch from last September’s PWWA event.

According to the running commentary being tweeted by our friends at NHB Girls, the match started with a technical display, but broke down into a fight when both women agreed to let everything fly – and fly they did, with Evie managing to score a big hit on McKay with a top rope dive to the outside. Back in the ring, the frenetic pace continued with Jessie looking for a submission victory but was frustrated when her opponent made it to the ropes. Fighting back, Evie scored with her TTYL finisher (Go To Sleep) but was shocked when McKay managed to kick out at two for a heart-stopping near-fall. McKay dug deep, applied her octopus stretch to try and get the tap out, but Evie broke free, and nailed a second TTYL for the pinfall to claim the title.

Earlier this month, Evie was asked by Ringbelles which title win would mean more to her, and she was very diplomatic with the answer, saying that IPW is her home promotion, so to be the first Women’s Champion would be a great thrill – but the PWWA Title has a lineage of great titleholders like Skater, McKay (who’s won it twice) and Madison Eagles, and to hold that belt would also be a great boost for her profile. In the end, she managed to achieve all of her goals, winning two tournaments over back to back weekends, and thrusting her name well into the spotlight shone on great female wrestlers.

Evie’s first big defence will likely be at the next PWWA event on October 6 back in Casula, and it should not be long until we get a chance to see it. Both the PWWA show and the entire Interim Title tournament are being put onto DVD, so we can see the Evie-lution of one of women’s wrestling’s newest stars.

Angelina Says Her TNA Depature Was "No Big Fancy Story"

Former TNA Knockout, Angelina Love, aka Angel Williams, has discussed for the first time her departure from TNA revealing that there was “no big scandal” regarding her leaving the company.

Love tells Monday Night Mayhem: “There’s no big fancy story, there’s no scandal. It’s nothing too big. I spoke to all the appropriate people. It was just my time. It was just my time to go. I was there for five years, was a five-time Knockouts Champion and one-time (Knockouts) Tag Team Champ, and did a lot with a lot of people storyline-wise. I guess I accomplished everything you could.”

She adds, however, that she did pitch for new storylines on Impact Wrestling. She say: “Of course, I was always coming up with ideas, and wanting to do more, and trying to be creative, and get myself into this storyline and that storyline. Some things were being talked about, but mutually and completely amicably, we just decided it was my time, and that was it.”

As revealed last week, Love will be heading to the UK in November for Pro-Wrestling: EVE’s second Internet pay per view, EVE 10: WrestleFever.

Details On Claire Lynch's TNA Departure

PWInsider is reporting that Claire Lynch‘s recent TNA departure was driven by fans’ overwhelmingly negative reaction to her storyline with AJ Styles.

According to the report, Lynch gave immediate notice that she was quitting after fans “began bombarding her professional website, LinkedIn.com and Youtube.com accounts with derogatory and hateful messages about her acting, her character’s actions and her character’s appearance”.

The story indicates that Claire, who is a working actor, was concerned that potential employers would see the negative remarks and pulled the plug on her role with TNA while shutting down her public social media accounts.

It certainly was a controversial storyline (and not exactly beloved by me), but this story could serve as a reminder of the level of power social media can give fans, for better or worse.

Olympic Athlete Comments On WWE Rumor

Yesterday, a rumor made the rounds suggesting that Olympic Taekwondo medalist Diana Lopez was in the early stages of negotiating a deal to join the WWE.

We reached out to Diana who debunked the rumor, saying: “Although I would be the coolest aunt to my nephews if I were in the WWE, I have not been contacted by anyone regarding negotiations or partnerships.”

Diana was sure to add, though, that she wouldn’t rule out the possibility.

“Am I interested? I have entertained the idea.. It seems like it would be really fun! I would be up for it!”

So, the Divas won’t be getting their counterpart to Olympic medalist Kurt Angle–at least not yet!

Bella Twins To Appear In Indy Movie

The former Bella Twins, Nicole and Brianna Garcia, have announced that they have landed their first movie roles.

The pair will film appearances in an independent film, “Confessions of a Womanizer”, in late September to early October.

“Can’t wait for the movie to come out and for you all to see it,” they wrote on their official website.

The twins wrapped their stint in WWE earlier this year following the expiration of their contracts.

Since leaving WWE, the pair have filmed their own workout DVD, a stint on MTV’s Ridiculousness and a shoot interview with RF Video.

Daffney Involved In Car Accident

Earlier today, Daffney posted to her Facebook page the news that she was involved in a serious car accident on Monday. While her car was totaled, she suffered no serious injuries.

PLEASE READ…

Monday night I was in a car accident. I was driving along I-4 and I hydroplaned at 70 mph, went off the road, and my car flipped. I landed upside-down in 3 feet of water. I was able to climb out of the passenger side and waded to safety. Luckily someone saw and stopped to help. It took 2 1/2 hours to tow my car out as it was wedged deep in the ditch in the woods.

Thank God I had my seatbelt on. If I hadn’t I’m sure my injuries would have been much worse…if not fatal. I want to emphasize to all my Daffanatics to please remember to buckle up.

I cannot explain the feeling I had when I realized what had happened. When I saw my totaled car the next day at the junkyard it really hit me. I’m so grateful to be alive. Now, I’m just trying to pick up the pieces and get things back to normal.

I lost a lot of things that night. As I landed in so much water – my phone, ipod, video camera (with all the bonus footage for Shine 2), some clothing, and some other things were destroyed. They are all material objects and can be replaced, however it is going to cost a pretty penny.

I will be auctioning off quite a few items in the near future to try and make up for this loss, so please check out ebay in case you see something you like and want to bid.

Brooke Hogan To Wrestle First TNA Match?

A rumor going around the internet, originating from F4WOnline.com, is that TNA is considering having Brooke Hogan wrestle at Bound For Glory 2012. The idea going around, is that Brooke Hogan would have her in-ring debut against Madison Rayne. Their belief is that the match to gain mainstream media attention for Bound for Glory.
