AJ Most Googled Female Wrestler For First Half Of 2012

It’s fair to say that WWE’s AJ Lee has come a long, long way in 2012 — going from the odd appearance on SmackDown, to front and center in some of WWE’s biggest storylines. And it seems that fans are taking to her too, as it’s reported that she is most Googled female wrestling talent of 2012 thus far.

According to the Wrestling Observer, which analyzed Google search data for the first six months of the year (January through June 2012), the pint-sized Diva received the most searches in the US by a “considerable margin”.

Other female talent who also shared the search engine love include Beth Phoenix, Eve Torres, Gail Kim, Mickie James, Velvet Sky and Vickie Guerrero. (Surprisingly, no Kelly Kelly.)

Speaking of AJ, the Raw GM is now officially being recognized as AJ Lee by WWE. Though she was known as AJ Lee in FCW, upon debuting on NXT Season 3, she (along with all of the other contestants) lost their last names. WWE.com has changed all mentions of AJ, including her profile page, to include her full stage name.

If it wasn’t evident already, it likely is now: there’s a new top female star in wrestling. Time will tell if she can build a legacy as strong as Trish Stratus, Lita and others, but AJ is certainly off to a good start. Not bad for a girl that was once Hornswoggle’s girlfriend!
