News On Layla's WWE Return

Future Divas Champion?
On March 22nd, WWE Diva Layla returned to the ring at FCW, her first live match since her ACL and MCL tear last year. PWInsider reports that Layla was receiving “high marks” for her performance last night and that she has worked hard in the past few weeks to shake off ring rust. The report notes that Layla showed off some new lucha-style moves, which should step up her game upon her eventual TV return. With all of this, hopefully the WWE Universe will see Layla again sometime after Wrestlemania.

At the FCW live event, Layla teamed with Audrey Marie to defeat Sofia Cortez and Paige. The former Women's Champion had been sidelined since May 2011 with a torn ACL and torn MCL.

Could she soon be back on top of WWE?

Usually, main roster talent will work with FCW when they are on the cusp of returning from injury. As Layla has now had her first live match back, her WWE television return shouldn’t be far behind.

My thoughts: Layla's return could be a wonderful thing or a horrible thing. WWE may be smart enough to realize her talent and make her the new Divas Champion (or at least a contender), or she could become another Rosa Mendes or Natalya, either pushed to the bottom of the pile and relegated to managing or get saddled with some ridiculous gimmick that no one really cares about. I myself hope that Layla comes back strong and gets her well-deserved title shot.
