The Worst Of The Week (September 2-8, 2012)

Some weeks, WWE makes it hard to create a "worst of" list.

While Raw did drag a bit, the Daniel Bryan/Kane hug match was one for the ages, and there's the excitement of Heyman and Punk teaming together.

It looked like all was lost. The week was going to be pretty good.

Then Smackdown aired.

We went from John Cena and Alberto Del Rio in a good main event on Raw, to Sheamus vs. David Otunga.

That wasn't the worst of it though, as we had a couple surprise returns, some lighthearted "comedy" and one of the strongest men on the planet single-handedly defeating evil for us all.

Here is WWE's Worst of the week for Sept. 2-8.

#5: Maybe You Forgot to Stamp It!

Dangit!

photo from spinebuster.comWe went weeks without seeing Hornswoggle on TV. It got my hopes up that creative may have forgot about him existing.

On Smackdown, Hornswoggle ran into Daniel Bryan and tricked him into a hug. Every fan on the planet could tell what was going to happen next.

Little Horny stomped on his foot. Hilarity ensued for everyone named Vince McMahon.

WWE decided to bring him back for some reason and what's worse is it's in part of the most fun story that WWE has going. It's probably a one-off, but there's no reason to have anyone else get involved.

Hopefully Hornswoggle will disappear for a few more weeks (or years), or just be reserved for Saturday Morning Slam. I don't wake up that early on the weekends, so we can have an amicable split.

#4: Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn is the Ultimate Warrior of the Divas division.

Well, minus the cool look, the charisma, the strength, the awesome ring entrance, and the face paint, they both have being a terrible wrestler in common.

What is it exactly the WWE sees in her? Her match on Raw against Eve was another case for her being sent to developmental.

Was Kaitlyn trying to jump over Eve? Was she doing a shoulder block? Did she even know what she was doing?

Every time she's on TV she seems to stumble her way around the ring. If WWE is looking for comedy, just play the Benny Hill theme during her matches. It would at least be more entertaining.

#3: Super Orton

Who can take down two of WWE's top heels by himself?

photos from capedwonder.com and thatsmyface.comIf you guessed John Cena or Sheamus you're right! But this week it was Randy Orton's turn.

Two weeks in a row, WWE gave away a "first time ever" match for Damian Sandow. Last week it was against Sheamus this time it was against The Viper.

Also, we saw Damian Sandow run away from Randy Orton. I guess this is his gimmick now?

Apparently WWE doesn't have enough chicken heels. Either way, after the match Orton quickly got the upper hand on a fresh Dolph Ziggler when he got in his face. Sandow tried to attack Orton from behind, but was greeted with an RKO.

Basically, Sandow and Ziggler combined are about as effective as David Otunga when it comes to taking on Orton.

#2: Barrett's Return

Welcome back Wade!

photo from wwe.comAfter weeks of cool vignettes where he looked like a bad ass brawler, Wade Barrett made his triumphant return to WWE television . . . against Yoshi Tatsu on WWE's second-rate show.

After being off of TV for seven months, you'd think they'd come up with something better than this.

Yes, it looks like they may make a story line out of him being unhappy about facing lesser talent, but it was a lackluster return to say the least.

If WWE has big plans for Barrett, why not give him an interesting angle to return to? It's just like when The Miz returned, WWE just threw him out there on short notice with nothing to get excited about.

The heels in WWE are so incredibly weak (see previous slide), that Barrett should immediately be pushed to the top. If they're going to keep him in the mid-card, then fans are going to see him as a mid-card wrestler.

Barrett also used a forearm smash as his finisher. Let's hope that doesn't stick. The Wastleland wasn't anything to brag about, but at least it somewhat resembles a finishing move.

#1: Santino Brings the Laugh (or Complete Crowd Silence)

Apparently now his finishing move doesn't hurt at all unless he has the sock on.

photos from wrestlingvalley.org
Antonio Cesario no-sold it completely on Raw. Granted, the move should always be no-sold, but apparently the sock gives it magical powers.

Why does this feud keep going? Cesario has beat Santino multiple times by now. It's keeping Cesario from gaining any momentum, but mainly the story is just really stupid.

The crowd agrees and over the last couple weeks it has been dead for these segments. You'd think WWE would catch onto that fact by now.

I don't even want a payoff to this feud, I just want it to end. I don't want to see Santino finally gain control of The Cobra and hit Cesaro with it. I don't want to see Aksana flirt with a sock anymore.
No one is benefiting from this story and it's bringing down the crowd, which is a terrible combination.

Something worse may air on WWE television this week, but if this story continues it's doubtful.

Well, thanks for reading! So, what do you think? Agree? Disagree? Did anything worse happen? Sound off below and see you next week!
